My Darling Arrow

Finished My Darling Arrow by @thesaffronkent.

 I really loved so many things about it, but there were a few that bothered me to be honest. 

Salem tends to come off as a slightly whiney child sometimes and others she knows what she wants and stands up for it. Given the life she's had and the constant loneliness she feels it's understandable. 

"They tell me that I’m amazing and I think I’m going to cry because no one has ever said that I’m good at soccer. No one has ever said that I’m good at anything actually."

BUT, big but here, her utter obsession with Arrow is downright unhealthy. I'm all here for some fictional toxic relationships but the level of Salem thinking Arrow basically sets the sun is a whole other level.

"He can stab me with a knife and I’ll be lying on the ground, dying, drawing little hearts in blood."

When Salem finally calls Arrow out on his bs I practically clapped. Calling him and a-hole when he's clearly being one almost makes up for her utter obsession. Now that said, I admire her loyalty to her sister but clearly the woman doesn't deserve it. She is awful to Salem and Salem just keeps trucking along thinking she is betraying her.

"I don’t think I have any role except to be the villain in their love story."

Arrow, Arrow, Arrow. What to say about Arrow...did he redeem himself? Kind of. His childhood was complete garbage. He was held to such unreasonable expectations by his mother. It made me sad for him, sad enough to absolve him of his douche bag ways? Meh. 

"Because it can get exhausting at times. It can get tiring, trying to meet her approval, trying to be perfect 24/ 7."

All in all I did actually like it, it had a good plot that kept my attention. I found myself really liking Salem and even Arrow by the end. So ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and oh geeze 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶, yes on the spice scale.
